If you care about the environment at all you are going to love what Mycologist, Paul Stamets, is up to and it makes so much sense! Instead of poisonous chemicals to control pests why not let Mother Nature employ her own special troops to weed them out. There have been a number of studies recently which discovered how plants communicate with each other to alert them of dangerous bacteria, fungus and insects. The results are fascinating! Plants actually have the ability to release chemicals that may call a particular insect to help eat other pesky predators. Paul Stamets, the world renown 'Mushroom Guy' knows a lot about this because funghi basically clean up toxins in the earth. Now he's got a plan to employ them in a widespread ecological way that promises the first real alternative to harsh chemicals.
